oftn studio is a Seoul-based spatial design studio working across retail, brand experience, hospitality, and lifestyle environments.
our work explores how space, objects, and everyday experiences can be reinterpreted to create meaningful and lasting spatial narratives.
we coined the term “of thingness” to describe the inherent objectivity found in things. our work focuses on reinterpreting this sense of thingness, recognizing that small, everyday elements often hold the power to create meaningful change. Through a different perspective on the ordinary, new possibilities for transformation emerge.
Two Identities, One Craft
SOU / CAST는 서로 다른 성격의 두 주얼리 브랜드가 하나의 공간을 공유하는 프로젝트다. 1층의 SOU는 밝고 투명한 재료와 절제된 형태를 통해 일상적인 주얼리 경험을 담아내고, 지하 1층의 CAST는 보다 깊고 밀도 있는 분위기 속에서 하이엔드 주얼리와 제작의 과정에 집중한다.
1층은 반투명한 디스플레이와 유리, 금속과 미세한 질감의 벽을 겹쳐 작은 공간 안에 시각적인 깊이를 만들었다. 장식적인 표현을 최소화하고 재료 자체의 물성과 빛의 변화가 주얼리를 드러내도록 했다. 이는 전통을 직접적으로 재현하기보다 절제와 장인정신을 현재의 방식으로 해석하려는 SOU의 태도와 연결된다.
지하는 완성된 오브제보다 그것을 만들어내는 과정과 시간에 집중한다. 밝고 가벼운 SOU와 깊고 밀도 있는 CAST, 완성된 오브제와 그것을 만드는 과정의 대비를 통해 두 브랜드의 서로 다른 정체성을 하나의 공간 안에 담았다.
SOU / CAST brings two distinct jewelry brands together within a single space. On the ground floor, SOU presents everyday jewelry through a bright, transparent, and restrained environment, while CAST occupies the basement with a deeper, more intimate atmosphere dedicated to high-end jewelry and the process of making.
At SOU, translucent displays, glass, metal, and subtly textured surfaces are layered to create visual depth within the compact space. Rather than relying on decoration, the design allows materiality and light to define how the jewelry is experienced—reflecting SOU’s approach to reinterpreting restraint and craftsmanship in a contemporary way.
Below, CAST shifts the focus from the finished object to the time and process behind its creation. The contrast between SOU and CAST—light and depth, object and process—allows two distinct identities to coexist within a single spatial narrative.
